April: Spring Refresh

Here in Eastern Washington you might be thinking to yourself… is it really Spring? But we’re happy to announce (according to my farmer husband) that things are looking up toward the end of this week! Thank heavens.

So what are we doing to get our homes feeling fresh for Spring?

Plants

One of our favorite ways to refresh our home for spring is to move our plants around. Whether it’s faux or real, we like to mix it up. Changing out your wreath on the front porch, swapping out your faux or real stems throughout your home to reflect the season, and bringing in extra greenery wherever you can. We also love to move our potted house plants around. Several of my plants needed a fresh start, so we repotted, moved them to new areas in our home, and washed off their leaves. This always makes my home feel new and alive again!

Fresh Air

Open those windows! On days when the temperature is perfect (and it isn’t windy), we love to open the windows in our home and get some fresh air flowing through the house. Not only does fresh air feel nice, it is also a great benefit for your health. It improves your immune system, elevates blood flow, clears your lungs and gives you more energy. Outside air has also been proven to assist in reducing emotional stress. We love the outdoors and do anything we can to bring more of it inside.

Brightening

Along with changing out and brightening up our plants and florals, we also like to change several other things around our home. Swapping out bedding, decor pillows and throws, we like to incorporate more light spring/summer colors and throw in some floral patterns. We also like to add a little pop of color, whether it is with some new artwork or home decor accessories.

Fragrance

One of our favorite ways to welcome in a new season is with a new scent. Personally, I am very sensitive to smells. I generally get a headache when burning candles, so I am very picky about which ones I will light in my home. Here are just a few of my spring favorites…

+ R. Rebellion’s Cowboy Country (Love all of their candles!)

+ Anthropologie’s Floral Sol Tobac

+Victoria’s Secret Fresh & Clean (Millennial Classic)

+Capri Blue Volcano

+Magnolia Home Afternoon Wander

Tidying Up

Decluttering your home is a sure way to help you transform your space from an unmanageable mess to a wonderful haven. I like to pick a specific day of the week to tackle everything and knock it all out. While I don’t always get everything done in one day, it is a great way to get me motivated. The first thing I like to do is get rid of the obvious messes and go from there. Throwing out anything I don’t need and getting rid of clutter.

One of the best benefits of a clean home is the peace it brings. Being surrounded by a clean environment will improve your mood and allow you to focus on the important things in your home - your family and loved ones.

Happy Spring!
