October: Finding Peace.
Finding peace…
We believe esthetics and familiarity can bring peace to a home. We also firmly believe that the charm or glamour of a home is not the main foundation of peace. Being a peacemaker is often on our minds during the holiday season, as we reflect on those we love and the surroundings that envelope us. The main reasons we love the people and places that we do is because of the peace they radiate and inspire within us.
Our mother began teaching us about peace through her example in our home. Her calm and amiable personality taught us to approach life with a reverent spirit. Our mother shared her peace through homemade meals, being kind to others, and making us feel important and loved. As mothers ourselves, we draw upon this daily.
Another way we like to bring peace to our homes is to declutter and create routines. Clutter in a home can translate into a muddled and chaotic mindset, whereas organization and structure can help unwind an overwhelmed mind. Because we identify greatly with our homes, a methodical home leads to a structured life. Reorganizing the energy in your home can look like keeping the objects with the most importance and letting go of the excess. For example, a family heirloom carries remembrance of past generations and the individuals who owned and loved it before you.
Routines assist in normalcy and certainty. In uncertain times, the mind will search for routines and rituals. Whether its a walk outside, tea break, or making a homemade meal, routines can motivate and elevate happiness. As we refocus, stress can be eased and comfort will be added to the level of peace within our lives and homes.
We know the need for peace is ever-increasing. As we strive to cultivate peace in our homes, we then take it wherever we go in our hearts.
